INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON

"TEACHING OF SURVEYING"


      Symposium directed to teachers, professionals and students of Surveying in the frame: "Surveying in the Third Millennium: Universitary Formation and Professional Development"

      Organized by the Exact Sciences, Engineering and Surveying Faculty’s Surveying School of Rosario, with the collaboration of the Professional Surveying Colleges of Santa Fe and Entre Ríos Provinces.

Symposium Place and Date: Rosario City, Argentina, October 18, 19 & 20, year 2000.

Sessions

      The program will include oral sessions and panel expositions (posters). Each author must indicate his preference (conference or panel), having in account that each communication medium can be more effective than the other, according to the content of the presentation. The organizers will try to do the best for observing the authors wishes, but in some cases they must be obliged to make changes in the type of presentation. In order to satisfy a maximum of contributors, the number of panels will probably exceed the quantity of oral presentations.

      The oral presentations will last 15 minutes each one, plus 5 minutes for discussion. Considering that these presentations reach a great number of auditors, will be adequate for synthesis or debate themes. One oral presentation –maximum- is allowed to each participant.

Norms for presentation of works

      The works must be included into the general title "Teaching of Surveying". The participants can present works about several themes that, in their opinion, are inside of that frame. As examples, and without restrictive character, some posibilities are mentioned:

Term of presentation: Until april 30, year 2000.

Official languages: Spanish and English.

Contents:

      Each contributor is requested to send an extended abstract; this abstract, with its optional tables, figures and references must be composed of a minimum of two pages and a maximum of four pages. The text must be detailed and informative, but concise at the same time. It must contain, at the beginning, a short abstract of four or five lines in English.

      It must be presented in A4 format (210 x 297 mm), written with Word 97 and/or in rich text format, top, bottom, left and right margins of 25 mm, one blank line between two text lines, Times New Roman font of 11 points, pages numbered in the bottom and centered, title in bold font of 12 points and it must contain the noun and address of the author or authors. The sending of three copies on paper and the original file stored in a diskette, is requested.

Acceptation:

      The evaluator committee will communicate the acceptation of the works with the appropriated anticipation. In order to effectuate the acceptation, at least one of the authors must be inscribed as a participant in the Symposium.

Panels:

      The dimensions of the panels (posters) can be up to 0,80 m (width) x 1,20 m (height).

Inscription costs:

  1. Individual, until july 15, year 2000: US$ 250.-
  2. Individual, after july 15, year 2000: US$ 300.-
  3. Institutional (three participants), until july 15, year 2000: US$ 600.-
  4. Institutional (three participants), after july 15, year 2000: US$ 700.-
  5. Students: US$30.-

      Soon, the form of payment of the inscriptions and a list of hotels with its characteristics, addresses and prices will be communicated.
