Biographical review
Obtained his B.SC and M.SC. from Cairo university, aeronautical department in 1964 and 1968 and PhD from ISVR, Southampton University, England in 1974. Postdoctoral research fellow from 1974 to 1978. Five years experience in the aircraft industry in Cairo. Professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, since1978. Presidente of ICA 2008-2010. Member of Board of directors of IIAV, I-INCE, FIA and ICA. Founder member of the Brazilian Acoustical Society (SOBRAC) in 1983, for which he served as President from 1994-2002. Editor of the SOBRAC Journal. Member of Editoral Board of IJSV, J. Building Acoustics, JNCE, Founder member and currently Vice President of the Ibero-american Federation of Acoustics - FIA (A joint 7 acoustical societies: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, Mexico, Portugal and Spain). Member of the WHO organization - Geneva working group for writing a book on Evaluation and Control of Noise Exposure in the Work Environment and author of two chapters 2001 edition. Author of a book Ruído: Fundamentos e Controle in the Portuguese and in Spanish languages. Auther of a Vehicles Noise and Vibration", ASA fellow member and IIAV fellow memeber. He has more than 90 papers in indexed journals and 370 papers in congresses related to noise and vibration. His current interests include hearing protectors, experimental and numerical vibro-acoustics modelling and measurements for industrial installations and mobilties (vehicle and jet aircrafts). Coordinator of large research projects with EMBRAER Company (Brazilian Company for jet aircraft manufacturing) related to internal and external noise with a team of 17 master and doctor degree students.
